  2024 year Highlights: JWs hit 9 million Publishers

  watchtower put out some highlights for the 2024 service year:.

  average publishers: 8,828,124. peak publishers: 9,043,460. a 43.2 percent increase in "those who returned to jehovah", meaning 65,816 were reinstated.

  baptized: 296,267. memorial attendance: 21,119,442. missing stat: number of partakers .. womp womp.

  If the number of congregations has decreased despite all the other numbers going up then I think it raises legitimate questions about whether the growth is real.

  The number of congregations is not included in the highlights but will be in the full report available end of December/ beginning of January.

  Some recent figures:-

  2023 - 118,177

  2022 - 117,960

  2021 - 119,297

  2020 - 120,387

  2019 - 119,712

  2018 - 119,954

  2017 - 120,053

  Just a few more weeks to wait. I wonder if they will still publish the number of partakers following Geoff Jackson's AGM talk? Every year for decades now I have thought this will be the last year they publish that number!

  Decisions on Denial of State Subsidies and Loss of Registrations for Jehovah's Witnesses: Adjustments in Jehovah's Witnesses’ Religious Practice Regarding Limited Contact with a Person Removed from the Congregation

  We are writing to you concerning the ongoing legal case that will be heard by the Borgarting Court of Appeal in February 2024 regarding the validity of administrative decisions based on Jehovah's Witnesses' religious teaching about limiting contact with a person who has been removed from the congregation or who has voluntarily withdrawn. We would like to inform you about a recent, worldwide adjustment in our religious practice in this area.

  This letter was supposedly written on October 24, 2024 regarding an appeal to be heard in February 2024.

  If this letter is genuine, did the WT Society make this blunder or is it the translator?

  It is unlikely I will be around in anything like ten years to find out. The only real consolation is that I ignored the education rules and I went to Uni so at least we will not die in poverty.

  i didn’t get the covid vaccine, but i admit, i was scared as shit i made the wrong decision because there was so much confusion out there.

  practically all my family and most of my friends took the vaccine because everyone was depending on those in charge to speak the truth.

  now a lot of them are sick, and they can't figure out why.

  Really sorry to hear that Stan. We both had our booster shots a couple of weeks ago and had more side effects than previously. Neither of us have ever tested positive and at my age and poor state of health hope we can stay free of the virus.

  Loss of a Jehovah’s Witness who I considered a friend

  i have known a jehovah’s witness for approximately 15 years and i have considered her a friend although i know that jehovah’s witnesses cannot have friends who are not jehovah’s witnesses.

  approximately two years ago, i was going through a very difficult time and i asked my friend if we could have bible study.

  she said yes and we have been studying the bible since.

  If you are not "making progress" you will be dropped so your friend can spend time with a more productive student. This was demonstrated a couple of weeks ago at the midweek meeting.

  Attended JW funeral today

  never miss a marketing opportunity—even at a funeral.

  funerals aren’t the first place you’d expect marketing.

  but jehovah’s witnesses know how to turn every moment into an opportunity to share their message.. during funerals, they weave in their teachings of hope and resurrection, offering comfort and, at the same time, presenting their beliefs to attendees who may not be part of the faith.

  I have been to quite a lot of those funerals over the years, dreadful events. However, I did attend a funeral about 10 years ago of a very old sister, a life long witness. I thought it was strange it was not held in the KH but in a large hall in town that is often used for concerts and plays. Two of the sister's relatives gave the talk, a fascinating look at this old lady's long and eventful life. The fact that she was a JW was briefly mentioned near the end. The service concluded with a brief payer then the only music played, Verdi's Nabucco, the Hebrew Slaves Chorus.

  There were quite a few raised eyebrows I can assure you!

  i will celebrate 01.10.2025 the 50th anniversary of the "end of 6000 years of human history and the immediate end of the world".

  Saw this on Flickr recently. Summed up the JW journey for me. My parents married during WWII and I was born with my parents convinced I would never go to school, get married, work, retire etc. Well you can work out my age, I look like the passengers in the train, well almost, so many more just like me and many that have died along the way whilst waiting.

  but what they don't say he left started and ran a real estate company and a global real estate consulting firm and apparently after making a fortune come back to bethel a few years ago.

  how in the hell could a non lifer now be anointed and appointed to be a gb member.

  sure can't be for his spiritual qualifications!.

  I don't think they have ever really let go of the reins. From their declaration of this in October 1971 it wasn't until 2000, that's 29 years before Milton Henschel resigned and gave up the Presidency. He died in 2003 IIRC.

  The President and directors are merely legal requirements, the GB will hang on to their power at all costs.
